John Killick

 I was a teacher for 30 years, in further, adult and prison education, but have written all my life. I went freelance as a writer in 1989. I worked as a writer in residence in a women's prison and a hospice before settling on work with older people. For the past decade I have concentrated on writing with people with dementia.

For 10 years I ran my own small press: Littlewood . I was a founder member, first secretary, and subsequently a chairperson of the National Association of Writers in Education. I worked hard to put Prison Writing on the agenda of the Arts Council. I have been a keen supporter of LAPIDUS since its inception.

In recent years I have been writing for 'The North' (www.poetrybusiness.co.uk) and I have also begun writing for 'Quattrocento' (www.quattrocento.co.uk).

I have given numerous readings, run one-day workshops and residential courses, and contributed to many conferences. I have also made a number of broadcasts.
